Dear Family!
Where do I begin? First of all, I love Sister Stevens so much!! Sister Stevens and I have never even disagreed...she never annoys me....and she is such a good friend. It is such a blessing to be her companion!
This last week we decided to go back and knock on these duplexes. The very first door we knock on, Pat answers and tells us the president of our church spoke at her husbands funeral. Turns out it must have been a stake president. She let us right in and told us she had learned 30 years ago! She even remembered the very last thing those missionaries taught! She goes..."degrees of...." and we say "glory?!?" Then she tells us she was going to our church all the time and even had FHE with her children and husband. But then her husband was murdered, she packed up and her Mom picked her and the children up and they moved! She believes that Joseph Smith was a prophet and the Book of Mormon is true!
We invited Amber to be baptized on March 5th so this Saturday Amber and Sheila are getting baptized! Another miracle is Allison is getting baptized!! Sister Stevens and I started teaching her this last Sept. in Lawrence! She wasn't even sure if there was a God when we met her! We are so excited/ a little bummed we can't go because her baptism is at 11 and the ones we have are at 10! What matters is she is getting baptized though and Sister Robinson will send us pictures!
Yesterday we had 7 investigators at church! That was awesome..the most I've ever had at church!
So on Saturday we made sugar cookies for an object lesson. We took some of the batter and I DUMPED salt in it..it was disgusting!! Then we talked about the Word of Wisdom with Amber and later Brayden, Hunter and their friend Ryan. We talked about how satan makes alcohol, drugs, and other addictive substances look good but really they bind us down and can easily be abused. We offered them the cookies and they took them. It was hilarious..we were laughing so hard! At first they were like "mmm these are good!" and then a couple more bites and they all were making nasty faces, and ran to spit them out!
Bishop Boswell gave us the entire hour to talk about missionary work in yesterdays meeting. Sister Stevens and I started out by singing armies of helaman and she played the guitar. Then we alternated sharing 6 miracles from the past 3 weeks..it was amazing. Then we and the ward missionaries and ward mission leader taught the leaders lesson 1. Sister Stevens was like "the Spirit was so strong my face was burning!!" ha-ha. I guess the leaders asked our ward mission leader if we are going to be presenting all that to the entire ward...the bishop actually wasn't there so they said they are all going to tell him we need to! This ward is amazing...amazing.
Yesterday it was lightning. Sister Stevens and I were standing on a corner eating out brownies, waiting to be picked up. Luckily it was just started to rain so by the time we got in the car it started pouring!! Today is nice again though...we'll see they say the biggest storm of the century is suppose to happen March 20th.
Anyways if I had the time I would share more miracles but I don't. I do know however that God is in charge and that everything happens for a reason...their are little coincidences in life..the Lord's hand is in our lives. We must open our eyes to see that it is true.
p.s. Today was the final day of the 60 day Book of Mormon challenge! Thanks for doing it with me. It was awesome!
..oh I forgot my camera cord...my bad

Love, Sister Powell
