I woke up this morning thinking it would be another nice day. I was wrong. The past week it's been so warm that I almost was going to send my winter coats and clothes home. Good thing I didn't. Not only was it dark when we went outside at 6:30 a.m. but also snowy. Now big flakes are coming down.
The start of this past week was interesting. Let me back up..last week we received a referral from the VC for a man name Benny. We went to his house and Mary answered the door, told us Benny wasn't home and she was his roommate. We called Benny and set up an appointment for Sunday. After Church this last Sunday we went with Bishop Boswell and his wife to Benny's. Well a different girl, Krystal answers. Benny wasn't home but we shared a message with Krystal. She tells us she is a roommate too....later she says she is dating Benny and she has 9 kids. 6 are step and 3 are hers. They all live in that house..so later Sister Stevens and I get talking and were like, "okay this is just weird!! There are 9 kids under the age of 10....some may be the SAME AGE....are the 6 Mary's and 3 Krystal's??" Then we got ANOTHER text referral for Benny who went to the VC with Hailey. Who is Hailey!??! The mystery is still not unfolded...more to come on Benny and the babes.
Monday we went to talk with Sean and Nicole. We were going to tell them we weren't going to visit anymore because they have stopped keeping commitments..well Sean hasn't but Nicole really has. But then Sean calls us and invites us to come over to teach his neighbor who he's been sharing the gospel with and showing church DVD's to. He was testifying of the Book of Mormon and invited his neighbor to church and liberty jail. So now we really don't know what to do with this situation!
This past week we started teaching Lauren Queen!!! She is adorable! Her mom is Sheila who was baptized on the 5th and confirmed yesterday. When Sheila was confirmed yesterday Sheila said, "I felt the Holy Ghost from the top of my head, all the way down to my toes" I had been praying all week she would feel the Spirit! So awesome!
So the work is still going really well here. We will see many more baptized and confirmed in the coming months.
I am so grateful for every good person in our country, who strives to treat others kindly and serve those around them. There is so much good in the world, although it may seem at times that there is a lot of wickedness, we will see the good as we look for it. I know that Jesus is the Savior. He saves each child of God from death and will take away our feelings of guilt, if we turn to the Lord in prayer. Having Christ a part of my life, helps me to be a better daughter, sister, aunt, girlfriend, and friend.
