Hello,
Thank you everyone for the emails and pictures this week. This past week was really busy in my area. Yesterday we gave 4 "Church Tours" which includes teaching Faith in the foyer, Repentance at the sacrament table, and Baptism at the font and explaining what our services are like so people feel comfortable coming.
I have had so many fun families come through and great experiences with them. We have had so many people set in our laps lately to teach, it's crazy. I wish I could remember more things in detail but I'm sorry I really can't.
I don't think I shared this experience last week...if I did I am sorry. So I took a family through the history at the VC and I really wasn't sure if anything I said was getting to this family because they looked somewhat bored. I felt somewhat discouraged and disappointed in myself but then after they wandered around looking at some of the things in the VC one of the men came up to me and shook my hand, I thought he was just going to say, "Thanks, bye" but instead he sat down next to me and said, "Sister Powell my wife and I were talking and we feel very impressed that we need to tell you that you are an amazing missionary and touched hearts that haven't been touched in years and it wasn't the words you said but the way you present yourself and connect everything" I thanked him and was so overwhelmed by his compliment I just sat there for awhile.
One more story, this last Monday we called up a less active family and asked if they wanted to come to the VC, they said sure. We took them to the "Christus" first which was great and then we took them through "God's Plan for His Family" I asked what they like to do together and the little girl who's 5 goes, "I just love my family" it was so cute well at the very end of the presentation I said to the little kids, "I want you to watch for the picture of Jesus that comes up a lot during this next part" After it was over the 3 year old had tears rolling down her cheeks from watching the scenes of Christ and then her little 5 year old sister comes up puts her arm around her and goes "it's ok, Jesus loves you too" I'm pretty sure they will be at church sunday. It was in that room where I was again overwhelmed with gratitude for my opportunity to serve. I love being a missionary
Sorry to be so short, enjoy this week!
Love,
Sister Powell
