Family,
Things are going really well in Independence. The Visitors' Center seems to be slowing down as summer ends and kids are going back to school. They started school already here.
This past week we invited Keanu Aupiu to be baptized. He is 11 years old...I'm not sure if I've told you about him. Anyways, the kid is awesome and loves to learn. His Grandma says he can't quit talking about the things we teach him and he has so many questions. He told his Grandma "The sisters love me" I couldn't help but laugh and smile because we really do. His date is Sept. 4th.
We are also teaching Reuban who's girlfriend converted 6 years ago. We took him through the Visitors' Center and it was amazing. He is getting baptized hopefully in Sept. but we'll see. When he was walking out the door the senior elder goes, "Thanks for coming, we hope you come again" and Reuban goes, "Oh this is my church now! I'm going to be a member!!"
This last Sunday Patrick showed up to church...OF COURSE after we decided we weren't going to keep teaching him. He's been learning for 3 yrs, has been to temple square, martin's cove, loves mo-tab, followed the life of David O. Mckay when he was a boy...just isn't ready yet. Ok and then Sunday we have Linda come to church and I have never had such anxiety about Sacrament and the talks until my mission but she LOVED it and said, "This is church to me, I love it"
This is already the 4th week of the transfer, meaning I have only 2 weeks left of it...where does time go...
Sorry to be so short but I replied to a lot my siblings emails ( which is great) so I don't have any time left.
Love,
Sister Powell
