Hi Family,
This week I have enjoyed serving at the visitors' center so much! One day I was able to take the "Perkins" family and I asked them who had taken them around in Kirtland and they couldn't remember and then I said, did she look like me at all and was her name Sister McAlister, and they said, "yes!!! and she was amazing! We couldn't believe she had only been out a week!" I couldn't stop smiling I was so happy to be taking the same family my cousin took. It was such a blessing to me.
Two days ago I was able to take a small family from England and wow when they speak...they sound so much more intelligent than we do. Yesterday I took a family from France! They were really fun too! They were Catholic and so I was able to explain the difference between Latter-Day Saints and Catholicism. When I played the "Christus" for them in French the three of them were glowing with smiles! They said, "We will now learn more about the Mormons" I gave them Mormon.org to go look up and there they can request missionaries. I am grateful to have been called to such a sacred place and to have the opportunity to serve in the Visitors' Center each week.
I lost my twin Sister Robinson...seriously we are ridiculously alike which was sad but she was needed somewhere else. A sister who came out at the beginning of this transfer has gone home so our trio was split. This was Sister Robinson's second "emergency transfers" She is so sweet to be thrown around all the time.
So it's just Sister Vaiaoga and I now. It seemed really quiet last night without three of us but that's alright.
Last night Sister Vaiaoga was beyond happy as we had dinner at the Tapusoa's (a Polynesian families home) This ward has a lot of Polynesians so I'm slowly getting everyones name down and how to pronounce them. We had boiled bananas with some coconut cream on them last night...it tastes exactly like a potato.
Last night I was sitting and talking to Sister Finlayson and we were just laughing at when she took us around the Visitors' Center last October, I'm so happy to be serving around her.
Oh Sister Stanton came with her family through the VC as well...we were SO excited to see each other, we couldn't quit talking but eventually we had to say goodbye.
As far as the area goes, the things that have gone on lately are so crazy I'm not even going to try to explain but good things are coming, I know it.
Love,
Sister Powell
