Paraguay 5/3

Hey everybody hows it going? Sounds like everything is going good as usual. That’s so sweet about Kaitlin’s mission call. I’m so excited for her.

So this week I have a lot to say. A lot has happened. It was sweet to talk to you guys last night! So fun I’m excited for this Sunday! First off the work… we have had a hard time finding Sofia the past couple weeks then this week she texts us and said come to my house before 5 because that’s when Ruben gets home. So we pass by her house at 3 or so and Ruben, her husband is outside cutting the grass with his machete. He sees us and starts running at us with his machete. and then .... just joking but he was outside with his machete and he told us that he doesn’t want us to pass by his house anymore and that they have their religion etc. so Sofia and Lucas who wanted to be baptized super bad don’t get to be because we can’t pass by anymore. But the Lord always blesses us with miracles. We contacted a house and found an 8 yr old in a non-member family that lived in Argentina for a long time and loves to go to church. He came the past two weeks and we are going to baptize him on Saturday. Also, Marta has a set a date for baptism on Friday. Hopefully. Also we have Mirna who might be baptized on Saturday too.

Another city was just got opened in our area and they had their first baptism this week in the river it was sweet. I’ve got a sweet story about the night we did the interview there but its kind of long so I’ll just tell you the moral of the story. As a missionary you can literally discern the spirit working on people and on the contrary you can also see Satan working on people. It’s a real battle between good and evil. Crazy. So the night we had the interview Satan almost won the battle and then the next day (the day of the baptism) it was pouring down rain. When it came time for the baptism the clouds parted and the sun came out for the baptism, then 10 minutes later it started pouring again. Anyway, you know me and always having to get a good shot I waded out into the middle of the river ( yes in my church clothes) and got some sick pictures of the baptism. Way cool.

Ok I want to tell the story I guess the funny stuff can wait. So this mom and her son were evangelical, but the missionaries were like oh well, we want a challenge and taught them. They even set a date for baptism etc. then the night of the baptism interview her boyfriend showed up after being gone for 3 months working. and he and his friends were drinking. So Lombardo tried to find a quiet spot to do the interview for the son. That went fine then when it was the mom’ turn and Lombardo was sharing a scripture and the mom started to cry. The drunk boyfriend went over and spouted off sayinge this isn’t a chapel don’t preach at my house you guys need to leave now etc. Lombardo said, ok, were almost finished,. then the guy went back to his friends. During this entire interview it was like I could literally see the powers of good and evil struggling between these people. The next day it was pouring down rain and the boyfriend said if you get baptized I’m going to kill you! Hmm… ok that intensifies things a lot the mom said you need to leave etc. and yeah the rest is history this was a condensed version, but a very crazy experience.

So I have had a couple funny dreams lately, the other night I woke up at like 12:30am 3:00am 5:00am etc and I was like why am I not sleeping good? I was really annoyed every time I woke up. Well, when I woke up at 3 it finally clicked why I wasn’t sleeping well. My dream was in Spanish and my brain was working in Spanish and I was mad cause Cathryn was here in Caacupe working with me, but she was talking all in Spanish and all I could say to her was como esta ha ha and so every time I would wake up and go back to the same spot in this dream where Cathryn was talking in Spanish and I could only respond como esta .it was funny. I’m taking it as a sign that Sister Collado taught Cathryn how to speak perfect Spanish in the past week and that now Cathryn is fluent!

Now for my pics
the first is of me and Isaiahs the 8 yr old I mentioned, after church
the second is just a cool pic of me. just another one since there are so many cool ones ha ha
the third is when we made pizza at the house this week for lunch
the fourth is of a drawing that I did at President Burgers house … he invited us over to have pork backstrap and teach one of his workers. Hmm pork back strap, lesson in a members home, and 2 new investigators… sure I guess well come over ha ha!

I’ll send another email with more pics but I love you guys a lot and I’m super excited to talk to you on Sunday

Love

Elder Morgan
