Paraguay 5/24/10

Hey everybody –

Paraguay is still here but there is a problem, I think time goes faster here than in the States cause I swear I was just writing an email yesterday to you, darn Paraguayan clocks, oh and I’m pretty sure the calenders are messed up here too cause its already the last week of the month!

So first off, thanks for all the emails and support you guys are awesome. Second the work is going really well we have a baptism that is going to be super sweet on Saturday. The only bad thing is I don’t think we’ll have money to buy pop and cake and stuff for a party! Well we'll ask the Burgers they are the best.

This was crazy! remember Sofia?.... ok didn’t think so, she was the investigator where her husband was standing outside with the machete and told us not to come back ever (just to confirm so Cathryn isn’t scared he did not chase us with the machete!) Well she texted us this week, so I was like uh what do I do.....?? I called her and she said that her kids have been asking about us for the past month and it’s ok if we come back… um ....miracle.

The other night I tried to set a date for baptism with Isiahs mom. She said she wants to wait, oh man what a bummer but it’s ok cause I don’t think she has recieved an answer yet. This week were going to focus on setting dates, but then Saturday night we were with Ilaria and I thought I’m setting a date here. I just said, ‘when you guys know that these things are true will you follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized on June 10th?’ and all of them replied, ‘Yes, of course we will.’ So sweet!!

The first picture is of me and Elder Olsen
The second is of me throwing a stick cool huh? ha ha
The third is of me with a cool leather map of Paraguay and burnt drawings. I like it a lot.

This one is of me at the Burgers and does not do this sandwich justice. The sandwich was literally the size of my face!!

The next one is a unique bridge that we found while contacting.

The scriptures say we are supposed to herd the sheep (be a shepherd) I’ve been looking for 5 months and haven’t found any sheep, so I decided maybe the Savior would be happy with 4 new geese what do you think?

I have this little card that my mom gave me that says, paraphrased, “We are chosen to represent Him, to stand in His place, to say what He would say and do what He would do... that our words are His words and our acts are His acts." When I think about this great calling that Cathryn and I have I feel so grateful for this opportunity. I love our Savior and I am so grateful that I can represent Him. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The restoration has been made so clear to us. God has restored all the authority and knowledge for us that we may return to live with Him. The restored gospel will bring such great happiness into our lives. I love Mosiah 2:41, “Blessed are they who keep the commandments of God.” I know that God blesses us with miracles everyday. I am so grateful to all of you and I hope you have a great week.

Love

Elder Morgan
