Hola

Hello!!

This week has been awesome!!! Cali and Chase were baptized last Saturday and confirmed on Sunday. The baptism was so wonderful and everything went smoothly. Sunday Sister Stanton and I spoke in church and of course President Van Komen decides to come. Sister Stanton goes, "President, what brings you to our ward today?" and he goes "Well I'm in this ward" Then she goes, "But how often do you come?" His reply- "Once or twice a year" He couldn't have picked a better Sunday though because we spoke on Cali and Chase were confirmed and all the talks were on missionary work. We had 10 non-members at church! It was great. After church we contacted a referral..he was so great! We taught him and his mother about the restoration. He had a Book of Mormon but it was from one of the "break offs" it was pretty crazy how confused he was with all the different break offs. We explained it all and he is excited to continue learning. I have a lot of faith when it comes to this man.

Funny story- On the way home last Sunday night I had to go to the bathroom sooo bad I couldn't make it back to the VC, seriously I was like sweating. So we stopped and Cali and Chases. I run up to the door and Chase yells for me to come in but it's locked so he opens it and I just ran to their bathroom! Then I come out and everyone is just laughing. I figured Chase had just been sitting their playing some video game or something but he wasn't...he was "tabbing" his scriptures. I'm telling you these two are the most humble, faithful children.

Well it's been reallly hot here. About 90 every day with humidity. Yesterday we walked quite a bit...nothing like nylons in the humidity i'll tell you that.

I continue to see my prayers answered day after day. We've worked hard the past month with the members and now we are getting one member referral after the other. It's so so great.

Last night we had an interesting situation. This lady came in who grew up not really talking about God or going to church..which is of course common but not here in the mid-west. Everyone attends a church here. So she read the entire Bible and is searching all the religions. It was such a good experience and she's going to come back in a month. I'm sure she'll have read the entire Book of Mormon by then too!

Oh and something funny happened...we received a referral by "text" and it was for Tameica...we dropped her awhile ago (her son is Darius) well she wants us back...so I guess we'll see.

There is nothing greater than this work. I love serving the Lord and am so grateful to see His hand in my life, daily .

Thank you so so much for your prayers on behalf of myself, my companion and those we're teaching. Please continue to pray for my mission president, he is just about done with Chemo and everything is looking on the up side with him!

Love,

Sister Powell
