Hi Family/Friends/Loved Ones
Happy late Birthday to Isaac and Marnae. Happy Birthday Verenice. Happy Birthday Grandma at the end of the Month. If I forgot anyone I am sorry but Happy Birthday and I love you too!
Ok well I got a new email cathryn.powell@myldsmail.net they have merged ldsmail to gmail..SO NICE since I use to have gmail. And hopefully the letter situation between John and I will work now. My apologies again for not doing a recording..life is busy.
Last Saturday Benjamin was baptized. His baptism was very nice and one of our investigators was there..Darius! (17 and going into the Army here soon) But he just really enjoyed it and felt the spirit and wants to be baptized. He couldn't believe how friendly everyone was and that the bishop and our mission president would even come up and shake his hand :) It was good and we are teaching him tonight..the plan of happiness!! He'll love it. I know it. I'm excited for him..he's just gotta make it to church.
Yesterday we taught a man in his 70s who we've taught once before. He is a humble man, intelligent, and loves his family. He has 5 children and14 grandchildren so family is so important to him. He thanked us for coming to his home and teaching him..yeah...he'll be baptized someday.
It seems like whenever we teach people about how God has a plan for us they agree with it all and it makes sense in their minds so when we ask them to pray about it, they say "Why? I already know it's true" But it's important that we know the truth of things no just in our minds but in our hearts as well.
Sometime this past week we taught Edwin who speaks only spanish and I was trying so hard to contain my laughter..this man is seriously something else! He knows it ALL!! He says the most profound (spelling?) things that just blow me away. He's already come to the realization of truths through his personal study. He said, "Thank you SO much for teaching me, I didn't know the rest of God's plan" ...yeah we're on plan of happiness right now with a lot of our investigators which is the second lesson we teach.
My Mission President, President Van Komen was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and had surgery. It hasn't come back..until now. So he will be doing Chemo every day which will take 5-6 weeks. Please keep him in your prayers...I know I make all your prayers longer and longer. And we will haven't heard from Sister Collado's father...but I think he's ok..she doesn't bring him up ever.
Today we find out who is being transferred this Thursday or if Sister Collado and I will stay together in Raytown! Either way, I'll be happy and the work goes on. I'll most likely stay...if she leaves me I better hurry up and get my directions right...ha ha you all know me and directions.
I had a few questions asked...What I do on Preperation Day-Well at 6:30 we clean and exercise and 8:00 I have personal study then 9:00 companion study and moments in between the two we do laundry. Then we usually come here to the library to email. And then we are going to go play tennis today with Sister Puniavaha (from Tonga and leaving Monday next week :( ) and Sister Robinson who we spend every Prep-day with. Then we'll go grocery shopping. And it's over at 6 p.m. so we go Teach!!
Yes I run every day now at 6:30 and yes I eat well...I am trying my best to avoid sugar so I don't gain 30 lbs like everyone says they do. Difference between missourians and oregonians...I want to know what they do for fun here?? There are no mountains and no lakes really that I know of so uh...what else do people do but snowboard and wakeboard? ;)
Um everyone has Cats, Smokes (yes I always always smell like cigarettes but that means I'm being successful right John A. Morgan?) and all the old people drive around the most hilarious little cart things with orange flags.
Ok and I have a funny picture that I need to take this week to add to next weeks email...its at Walgreens and my companion and I thought it said, "HINI SHOTS now available" But it says "H1N1 shots now available" haha we laughed pretty hard.
OK 5 min left gotta go. The work is goooooood. The gospel is true. Oh my goodness I forgot to talk about my awesome tours lately..some spiritual experiences for sure there. God loves us, his children and all he wants is for us to be happy and follow Christ's example..only way to true happiness.
Love you all!!!
Have a great great great week.
Until next week
Sister Powell
