Can you believe we never posted this!? It has sat in drafts forever..so I figured I would post it so we have our wedding day written down and can read it in the years to come.
Yes it's true Cathryn and I moved in together. Oh of course we decided to get married first and we figured that we should share with you guys how it went. We got sealed in the Portland Oregon Temple on December 29th at noon and it was great we were able to have plenty of friends and family their in the sealing with us, which made for a great time. It was pouring when we walked out of the temple, but our photography (Dylan Stott) captured amazing shots in it. http://www.dstottphotography.com/2012/01/16/john-and-cathryn-oregon-wedding-photographer/
We then went to Charlie and Cydnie's, who live close by and had a luncheon which was fun. Then we went to Belknap Hot springs, a little mountain hot springs resort that sits right on the Mackenzie river. Our room looked right over the river which was roaring due to the rain that had been going on all week. We stayed the night there and went for a swim in the hot springs the next morning, and walked around the chinese gardens before we checked out the next day.
We got to Sisters just fine and there we realized that it would have been better to just stay at the hot springs because Cathryn's parents house was crazy with reception preparation going on! The place looked like a factory! Cupcakes, make up, flowers, hair and the list goes on! I stayed hidden so that I didn't get on cupcake duty or on some other "duty" until Cathryn was done getting her hair and make up done and had her wedding dress on. All morning the snow was coming down really hard and then it would stop.
Dylan took us around spots he wanted to photograph us at in Sisters and captured more amazing shots in the snow this time. This man knows how to photograph well in every kind of weather! We marched around in that snow, even Cathryn did in her dress. Dylan had seen a really neat barn, and the owners weren't home so we didn't ask for permission. Then they came home when we were just finishing up, and the lady was like, "Uhh kind of weird you guys!" and Dylan's like "Oh yeah sorry, I just really liked your barn and were leaving now." ha-ha. At least when I told her that I knew three of her kids, she seemed a little more ok with the fact that we were there.
Our ring ceremony and wedding reception was held at Aspen Lakes lodge in Sisters. Although we got married in the temple, we decided to exchange rings in front of close family and friends for my mother in-laws side of the family who couldn't be there in the temple with us. Nyle Head performed the ceremony and did a fabulous job. It was a really special moment that we will never forget. Our reception was a blast, the food was good, and all the guests seemed to enjoy themselves. Dallas and Kaitlin gave hilarious speeches, Kaitlin caught my bouquet and she ended up being the next to get married! At the end of the night when only our families were left, we all danced to music, and then they sent us off with sparklers.
We are so grateful and happy to finally be married to our best friend. The last six months have been awesome. It's nice to not say goodbye at night anymore, and have our own place to live!! :) It doesn't get better than married life.
