Family,
Today has been a really good day so far. I cleaned, did personal study, companion study, laundry, and now I'm obviously at the library. I was really excited to get mail from John, Riley, and Kayla. Thanks.
Things are looking better in Raytown. It died for a couple weeks but this week we taught Marta and Elizabeth twice and they came to church! That is a serious miracle. Marta told me like all our investigators, "you need to learn spanish". I know I know. We pretty much only have spanish investigators.
Ben came to church (he was baptized in March and hadn't been coming) but he came yesterday. It was good to see him. Jorge is doing well. He is from Veracruz, Mexico. His mother has a lot of family that are members. It's like that with the spanish investigators..they have tons of lds and catholic family members.
Sister Collado is leaving me in 10 days...I'm going to cry my little eyes out. Oh I love her so much. Last night we couldn't stop talking I think we fell asleep after 11...oops. We haven't ever argued and we've been together 24/7 for the last 3 months. She is like no one I've ever met. Her testimony is so firm. She has the spirit of discernment like nobody and although she gets migraines every other day, she keeps on going. I am really sad to see her go home, but everything always works out and whoever I'm with next, is who I'm suppose to learn a new lesson with. Can you all believe my 3rd transfer is here? Me neither.
Mom asked me what my schedule is so let me tell you all.... 6:30 I get up and we exercise and shower and eat and then if I go to the Visitors' Center we get picked up or walk over and have a prayer meeting at 8:45. Shift is from 9-3 then we have companion study from 3-4 and go into Raytown. If I'm not on morning shift at the VC then it's 8:00 personal study 9:00 companion study 10:00 teach in Raytown. 2:45 prayer meeting. 3-9 p.m. VC
And that does not rotate weekly..it's kind of random. One day I'm morning the next I could be afternoon shift. We get right now over 100 visitors a day. In the summer tourist buses come. Yes I eat at the members homes unless on shift, then they drop dinner off to us at the VC.
So this last week we worked really hard and it was kind of funny because one day we made more calls then I can remember. Trying to get team-ups and appointments and no one answered and no one was home. We were WAY south in our area in the middle of nowhere it felt like sitting on the back of our car eating warm spinach and fruit for dinner..wow Sister Collado and I just started laughing together remembering that.
Please tell Isaac and Heather congrats for me on the baby on the way!! I CAN'T wait to hear where Kaitlin is going to be serving!!!! Last week we played bball (knock out) with the elders...let's just say I accidently did knock one out like 3 times. oops!
Well thanks for keeping me, Sister Collado and our investigators in your prayers. I appreciate that so much. Community of Christ just had their General Conference, which they have once every 3 years..so I was able to take some of their members on tour around the VC. That was cool. There are sooo many churches around here..mostly Baptists though.
I am reading in Helaman and wow if I could be like those missionaries in Mosiah and Alma. They taught with power and authority. I hope each one of you spreads the gospel because it is true and ONLY lasting happiness comes from Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. I love love love teaching.
Love,
Sister Powell
