Feb-May 2015

I promised myself that I would not get behind on blogging and I have!! At least, I am catching up though, right!?
Well I don't know if it is just us or the stage of life we are in, but it seems we always have some big life event occurring and they really haven't stopped since we decided to serve missions. So here is what is new in the life of the Morgan's...the small stuff and the big stuff!

February- We exchanged babysitting with some friends on Valentine's day and went indoor bouldering for the first time ever. It was really fun to create our own paths and challenge one another. Our arms were definitely tired by the end and sore later on.
Kat and I took Benson and Colby to Hogle Zoo on "free day" and the weather actually wasn't too bad and we all had a good time.

March-We took a trip to Escondido! I hadn't been to the Lawrence Welk Resort since I was a teenager (15 probably) and so obviously John hadn't ever been. We had to take advantage since this is the first year we haven't been in school in March! We flew into San Diego and rented a car (of course not the normal way either because that's John). It was a privately owned car, but through a company called "Relay Rides". People rent their cars through Relay Rides and they pick you up at the airport and you drop them off back at their house or wherever they want to be. Does that not sound like something John would do? :)
Anyways, we headed straight to get food at a delicious Mexican restaurant near the airport and then went back to pick my Grandma Patty up when she flew in just a couple of hours later. Verenice and the kids drove up from Arizona and got in a couple of hours later. We basically just hung out around the condo and had dinner. On Sunday we went to Sacrament meeting, the pool, picked up my mom from the airport, and Nathan's family came in about the same time as my mom.
We had a fun week going to the resorts pool, spending a day at Cardiff beach in Ensenada (John and Nathan surfed) and eating fish tacos, and Seaworld. John had to get back to work so he left on Wednesday after Seaworld and Nathan's family left before Seaworld, my Grandma left Thursday for Minnesota, and I stayed until Saturday. We could have stayed another week!! It was so much fun!

April- John's family (his parents, brother, grandparents) came into town for General Conference weekend which was also Easter weekend. It was a nice weekend and I made Easter dinner for the fist time with John's help. We made homemade rolls,  cooked ham, made funeral potatoes, and of course had some fruit and vegetables. I made banana cream pie which I've made before and had a apple pie from Costco.
On Saturday while the men went to the Priesthood session, we woman and Colby went to Cafe Rio and then Deseret Book store where they have ladies night.

We found out April 15th that we are expecting a GIRL! Colby was right all along. He always told us we were having a "Gwirl"! She is healthy and her brain and organs are developing normally which is such a blessing. We are planning on naming her "Maelee Kate" unless we feel differently when we see her.

May-We became homeowners! We have been back and forth for quite a few months on whether to buy in Utah or continue to rent. Someday we would like to move back to Oregon, but we are happy here in Utah, John has a wonderful job, and this house fell into place for us. Our friends Kedrick and Lydia are building in this neighborhood called, "Silverlake" so we decided to come look at it. A week or two later we were signing the papers to buy the spec home across the street from them. We closed on the house within 30 days. We learned a lot about mortgages, loans, and the entire process. It has been a positive experience and we feel very blessed to live in such a beautiful home where Colby will have Lincoln to play with right across the street.
Even though it is a new home, we already have taken many trips to Home Depot as we are putting shelves and cabinets up in our laundry room (there is no linens closet in this house). We bought a lawn mower, rake, wheelbarrow, and refrigerator. I guess we are REALLY adults now with a house and soon to be two kids. Our next projects are sod in the backyard, a fence, a patio, finish the garage walls and floor, and put up shelving.

Kaitlin and Garrett also moved here this last week which I am thrilled about! I am so excited to have many many play dates and watch our boys grow together as we did.

That about sums up the past few months...and I am determined to stay on top of my family blog monthly now!
