At the beginning of June we went camping up at American Fork Canyon. We camped near the upper lake (later found out we aren't suppose to...oops!). This was Colby's first camping trip and he was super excited about the tent. He woke up around 3 a.m. and then again for good at 5 a.m.
That was tiring. Next time we are bring the pack 'n play and setting it up in our tent!
The next weekend we headed up to Island Park where our old ward held their annual "ward campout". It was really fun to see Bishop Jacob's and his wife, college friends, wake surf, and wake board...it defineitely made us miss Idaho a lot. There is nothing like living around young couples like you.
The next weekend we got up early on Saturday and ran the AF Canyon 5K. It was a lot of fun and of course Kneaders french toast afterwards was delicious! A couple weeks later John brought in the mail and showed me I had placed 3rd in the female 25-29 division. Then I got a phone call that I won a prize in a drawing! Both were surprising and awesome. :)
We also decided to get our table refinished professionally and got it back in June! It looks amazing! We are so happy with the way it turned out and glad to have a table and chairs to sit on for dinner again.
My mom came to visit at the end of June and between the three families, we kept her very busy! Everyone came over here for dinner Sunday night. We went to Cherry Hill water park on Monday. We worked on recovering my chair cushions. We watched movies and went on a walk around the Jordan River. I would love to live close to her.
Since I knew Lindsay would probably have Paxton early, we had a girls date July 1st and got pedicures and went to lunch while Kat watched Colby (thank you for always watching him Kat)! He did come on the 8th while we were in Oregon and he is seriously adorable and I just love Lindsay!!
On July 3rd we headed to Oregon, but as usual we stopped in Boise and broke the trip up. We stayed that weekend with the Morgan side celebrating the 4th, going on rides in the ranger, helping Gramps feed the animals, and swimming at the ranch pool. Colby went to nursery with Grandma Laurie on Sunday and did pretty well!
Monday we took off and met Nathan for lunch (delicious and gourmet) and then drove the rest of the way to Cannon Beach to be with the Powell side. Seriously...I love Cannon Beach. We played on the beach, surfed, went to the pool, ate fish 'n chips at Ecola Seafoods and ate way too much salt water taffy from Bruce's Candy Kitchen. On Thursday night we roasted hot dogs and s'mores at Oswald Beach and Matthew and I surfed.
We spent Saturday afternoon with the Morgan side wake surfing in Prineville which was really fun and ate dinner before leaving. It was well worth the hours of driving, but are always happy to be back in our own beds with our routine.
Since we have been home we have played with Colby at Natural Museum of Curiosity which is up the road and met friends there last Monday.
We went to the Shippen's and celebrated Max's birthday and also went to Jaime's in-laws (Ben and Joan's) for Pioneer day on the 24th!
I would say this summer has turned out to be full of a lot of fun! John really enjoys working at Domo and I enjoy staying at home taking care of Colby and things around the house!
