We actually celebrated his birthday at home with
friends on January 25th.

Dear Colby,

I cannot believe that an entire year has passed!  When your birthday was a few days away, I started to reflect on the day I went into labor and you were born. I remember turning to daddy and saying, "Why can't labor or something just happen!" Literally one minute later....my water broke. Oh how...I guess naive..I was to desire labor! ha-ha. Just kidding. We were ready for you to come,  I just had no idea what was coming. Even with an epidural, labor was still no easy task. I thought after seven hours of contractions, I was done. HA! It was only beginning. I had another two hours straight of pushing.

I see why they call it a labor of love. However, I would do it all again in a heartbeat of course because you have brought more joy into our lives than I could have ever imagined!!

It had been fun to watch you grow this past year, learn new skills, interact with us more, and develop a fun personality.

You have never been the type to sit still. Laying in my arms or sitting on my lap didn't last very long...you have been up and down off the bench at church since you were around five months. Speaking of which, you are quite the popular boy at church. All our friends want to hold you. Some even snatch you up for an entire hour. I am happy to say you are getting to be much more "cuddly" by the way.

This year for your birthday we went to Hawaii! It was such a fun way to celebrate the miracle of life and your past year. You LOVED the warm water at Lanikai and playing in the sand.

We are so grateful for your healthy mind and body and your laughter that fills our home. You're so special to us, your family, and our friends. We love you so so much. Forever and Always sweet boy.

Love,
Mommy
