Happy Birthday Steven and Elijah!
Well I would say I had a pretty good week. We invited four of our investigators to be baptized and four accepted. We now have met our goal of 6 baptisms in May! My ward mission leader (Bro. Bench) is so amazing and of course once we reached 6 on Saturday he goes, "ok now do you think you can hit 7" Oh boy....
Yesterday we went our the baptism questions with Josiah and all I can say is the Spirit was really strong and he is more than ready to be baptized. I am so grateful for the blessing it has been to teach him, I really believe the Lord guides our lives and that it is not by chance that I ended up serving here in Odessa.
Aly is doing really well, we moved her baptism day to the 21st instead of this weekend and I attached a pic of the card she wrote me the other day.
I think i told you all about Alyssa? AMAZING. I love her!! She got in a reallllly bad car accident last Sept. and for now is confined to a wheelchair. She came to Bro. Bench's for a lesson last Friday and we invited her to be baptized. This morning she calls and tells us she is in the hospital...she got really sick and will be there until tomorrow morning. We went with some Priesthood holders about an hr and half ago and they gave her a blessing. There was a feeling of peace in that room.
Last Friday we decided to go and serve S. Bridgette Kellogg...we went and cleaned her kitchen for 2 hrs. Her son Brayden helped us. Well the entire time she cleaned the bathroom and then the next day we went over to teach them and their house was still clean...she had a new big rug, slip cover on the couch, and she herself looked really pretty. This is what matters to me. This is why I am a missionary. It is not for a # of lessons taught in a week neither a # of baptized, and it is certainly not too "look good", all I care to do, is make someones day a little brighter. I love my companion, Sister Larson is a hard worker, laughs, and doesn't stress about rules. She had such a great idea for the "BKS" (Brennan, Brayden, Hunter Kelloggs) we went to Wal-Mart and bought plain white t-shirts. The boys really like sports so we had them write the number "14" on the back of the shirt like a jersey and their names above that. Then hang them on their wall to focus on the goal of getting baptized May 14th! S. Kellogg was like, "wait that is after transfers?! What if you aren't here Sister Powell! Let's move it up!" haha I assured her no matter what I will come back for the baptism.
Well It's really weird to know I will be physically with you all next month...but I'm excited and hopefully be able to skype with many of you this coming Sunday! For those of you that I won't be able to..Happy Mothers Day!

Love, Sister Powell
