If you think Kansas is flat, think again

Hey Family!!!

I better start off with saying, Happy Birthday to Tyler and everyone else who I have missed recently. It sounds like everyone is happy, kids are back in school, and the weather isn't all that great but life is. Life always is. Oh and I couldn't find my camera charger again so no pictures..sorry!! I'll find it today. And yes everyone I am halfway through my mission..which is just crazy to me and it's gone by way too quickly but let's not think about that.

Well this week was yet another week of miracles with Sister Stevens. Who's name by the way is Catherine so naturally we get a long and laugh our heads off daily. Lawerence is by far my favorite area. We didn't have the car this week so we took the bus, rode our bikes 10 million miles and walked a lot. The other night we biked up a hill which was pretty hard but that was just the start, we then biked up this mountain and I'm such a dork that I left my bike on gear 5. After being fed dessert every single night, my heart wanted to punch me in the face for making it work so hard! BUT I have seen over and over and over that when you work hard physically the Lord drops people in your lap to teach and that happened this week FOR SURE.

We have 5 new people we are teaching. Remember how we cover two ward? Yeah well 3 of the 5 are girls in the university singles, so we might as well cover that ward too.

Kate is from Colorado has dated her boyfriend for 2 years who is going on a mission and going to BYU right now. She showed up in our family ward and the bishop told her about the university ward so she has been going every week. She is awesome and ready to be baptized.

Then we go contact Obidiah and Arianne Wed night and it was the most powerful lesson both Sister Stevens and I have EVER experienced. It was incredible. Obidiah looked at Arianne and goes, "you know how we go to all these churches searching and it always feels like something is missing? This is what we're missing" And his fiancé just kept nodding.

Remember Chris who we prayed to find and then found him -- the first person we talked to? We had a great lesson with him and so I'll let you know how things go with him. We want Na'ki to fellowship him! Oh Na'ki....is a recent convert of a couple weeks...amazing amazing man! He was confirmed last Sunday and bore his testimony. It was hilarious and so refreshing. He got up there and said, "All my g's and thugs wanna know why I've gone Mormon on them and I just preach to them that it's true!" He is 50 years old, looks 30, is a body-building/ex-football player for The Dallas Cowboys/hairdresser for black men/owns properties/truck driver....I can't even begin to tell you how amazing this man is. When Sister Stevens talked to him in an alley-way he said, "I already know the Mormon church is true, I had a dream"

Chuda- From Thailand, were starting slow with her so she can even understand who God is. Pretty intelligent girl who is finishing up at KU and then going back to Thailand.

Last but not least, yesterday Allison showed up to church. She is from Kansas. Has read the entire Book of Mormon already, dated her boyfriend for 1 year who is attending BYU-I and is getting his mission call on Wednesday. She is ready as well and wants to learn.

MIRACLE WEEK I'm tellin' you!! It's really awesome how similiar mine and John's missions. I don't think either of us could even begin to explain how similiar experiences we have had but it's really neat. One small example though, my favorite family in the ward is the Bergers..yeah the Bergers.

Please know how much I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and am grateful to have such a solid testimony that God lives and Jesus is the Christ. Nothing brings greater happiness than obedience to God. It really is in our trials that we learn to be obedient..think about your life in that way. I did and it's true.

Love,
Sister Powell
