Bishop Jacob's has a wakeboard boat so of course John had to go right when we got there and was wake-boarding near dark. The next morning we got up and went with a couple (Tara and Zack) in our ward who like to wakeboard too. They were crazy and went without wetsuits unlike us!
Then I went again in the afternoon and that's when I hurt my knee. I was having a good time and cleared the wake a couple times. Then I cleared it again and when I landed I felt the impact on my knee, but it was fine.
I began hitting the wake toe-side edge (that means my back was to the boat) and decided to try a 180. I realize I'm a rusty wakeboarder from 1.5 years off for my mission and then another summer off because of pregnancy, but I really wanted to get back where I was at in 2009, so I decided to go for it.
Mistake.
I landed it, but John said I got way more air than usual and was close to a 360, therefore I over-rotated. As soon as I landed I felt my knee just pop out of place, let go of the rope and started yelling. It hurt.
Zack jumped in and pulled me to the dock, which really did feel too great with that heavy board on my feet. We unscrewed my boot from the board and then another guy (Jim) and John carried me into the house.
We aren't sure if I sprained my knee or tore a ligament and we didn't go in and get an X-Ray or MRI because there has been quite a bit of swelling. For now I'm just waiting it out...icing and elevating it, taking ibuprofen, and getting around on crutches.
Father's Day
On to the good stuff! I spoiled John big time for his first Father's Day. Besides the fact that he had to make his own breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but he said he was happy to do it because he enjoys cooking. I surprised him with a slideshow of pictures of him and Colby to the song, "Love Without End, Amen" by George Strait
Then he helped me hang up the decorations I had printed out. Later, I surprised him with a gift and made him a cake. About a month ago he picked out a grey suit, new tie, and shirt for work and that was suppose to be his gift, but I couldn't help myself. I wanted him to open a gift on the actual day.
It was a great day and I'm always grateful for the awesome daddy he is to Colby.
