I have decided to once again contribute...but this time, it's from the perspective of 'the girl waiting at home'.
The other day I got thinking about the courage it takes to leave everything and everyone in your life behind to serve a mission for 18-24 months. Let me tell you, it is not the easier road!! BUT... over the past two years, I have learned the value of choosing difficult decisions over easy ones. Most often, these difficult decisions are much more rewarding. Do you agree?
I also realized, how unique it is that I have been in two pairs of shoes. I have had the opporutnity to be in the 'missionaries shoes' for 18 months and now the shoes of, 'the girl waiting at home' for 5 months. I must say, I have a new respect for my Sister in-laws (Marnae & Verenice) who waited 24 patient months for my brothers returns.
There is nothing easy about these new pairs of shoes I wear. Some days I feel on top of the world, confident about being without, and knowing Elder Morgan will be home soon! Other days are..flat out lonely, I seem to notice every couple on campus holding hands, and Elder Morgan can't be home soon enough.
I feel a deep appreciation for every pioneer woman who raised children alone for three years while their husband served a mission. I also admire every wife today who has a husband serving our country over seas...whether they have children or not.
All I hope I've been to John for the past 5 months and hope to be for the next 3 weeks is 100% supportive of his calling as a missionary. His service is nothing but a blessing.

Cathryn - Thanks for posting this, it was heartfelt and insightful. Thanks for your example at wearing both pairs of shoes, it has been examplary to us all, and the waiting is nearly over!!! YEAH!!
